Welcome to New Dawn! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know as a new player.

How to Start Playing New Dawn

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to https://portal.uonewdawn.com/ and log in with your Discord account to create a new New Dawn account
  2. Review the Getting Started guide on the portal
  3. Review the server rules to learn what New Dawn is all about

Step 2: Download The Launcher

  1. Download & install the launcher from https://portal.uonewdawn.com/getting-started
  2. Let the launcher download game files (approximately 1.5GB)

Download Time

The initial download is about 1.5GB and may take some time depending on your connection speed.

Step 3: Authenticate Your Launcher

  1. Click "Enter Britannia"
  2. Log in with your Discord account if you haven't already
  3. Click "Authenticate New Dawn Launcher"

Step 4: Enter the Game

  1. Click "Enter Britannia" again
  2. Select one of your three accounts & create/select a character
  3. Welcome to New Dawn!

Your First Steps in Britannia

Starting Location

You can choose to start in any major town in Britannia. Each town offers unique opportunities:

  • Ocllo - The most common starting location and recommended for new players
  • Britain - The ruins of its former self, the castle walls now the town walls
  • Other towns - Each has its own character and resources

Essential Commands

Learn these important commands:

  • [ach - View and track your achievements
  • [profile - Access your character profile
  • [emote - Use emotes to express yourself

Banking

Use the bank to store your items safely:

  1. Say "bank" near a banker NPC
  2. Your bank box will open
  3. Store important items here

Death and Items

When you die, you may lose items you're carrying. Keep valuables in the bank!

Building Your Character

Understanding Stats

Your character has three primary stats:

  • Strength (STR) - Affects hit points and melee damage
  • Dexterity (DEX) - Affects stamina and swing speed
  • Intelligence (INT) - Affects mana and magic power

Skills

You have 700 total skill points to distribute across various skills. Start by focusing on:

  1. Combat Skill - Choose your weapon type
  2. Tactics - Improves combat effectiveness
  3. Healing or Magery - Keep yourself alive
  4. Support Skills - Add utility (Hiding, Tracking, etc.)

Making Money

As a new player, here are ways to earn gold:

Early Game

  • Hunt animals - Sell hides and meat
  • Collect resources - Mining, lumberjacking
  • Kill monsters - Collect gold, sell off items to NPC vendors

Mid Game

  • Dungeon hunting - More dangerous, better rewards
  • Crafting - Create items to sell
  • Treasure hunting - Find buried treasure

Social & Community

Finding Groups

  • Use Discord to find hunting partners
  • Join a guild for community support
  • Visit popular gathering spots (Ocllo bank)

Player Housing

Once you've earned enough gold, you can:

  • Purchase a house placement tool
  • Customize the interior of your house
  • Set up vendors to sell goods

Pro Tips

  • Bank often - Don't carry everything with you
  • Join a guild - Experienced players can help you
  • Start small - Don't fight challenging monsters too early
  • Use Discord - Our community is helpful and active
  • Learn scripts & macros - Make repetitive tasks easier

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not banking valuable items
  • Spending all your gold immediately
  • Going AFK in dangerous areas
  • Not joining the community
