Overview

Animal Lore allows you to examine creatures and pets, revealing detailed information about their stats, skills, resistances, and abilities. Essential for tamers and useful for all players who interact with creatures.

Active Use

When you actively use the Animal Lore skill on a creature:

  • Target Range: 8 tiles
  • Cooldown: 1 second
  • Requirements:
  • Must target an animal, monster, or sea creature
  • Cannot target dead creatures
  • At skill < 90.0: Can only lore tamed creatures
  • At skill < 100.0: Can only lore tamed or tameable creatures
  • At skill 100.0: Can lore any creature
  • Success: Opens detailed gump showing creature information
  • Failure: "You can't think of anything you know offhand."

Training

Active Training

Use Animal Lore skill on:

  • Wild animals (requires 90.0+ skill for untamed)
  • Tamed creatures (works at any skill level)
  • Monsters (requires 100.0 skill if untameable)
  • Other players' pets
  • Your own pets

Passive Training

  • Gains while taming creatures
  • Improves alongside taming skill

Quick Training

Macro the skill on nearby animals. Each use provides a gain chance when you successfully use the skill.
